How to dress down your cocktail dress {Part 2}

Computer Hope

As we talked about last week How To Dress A Cocktail Dress Down {Part 1}, one of my favourite ways to get the most out of my dresses throughout winter is to layer them with a chunky knit, some stockings and ankle boots. A chic and relatively effortless way to keep your classically non trans-seasonal styles, well trans-seasonal.

If your knit is light, or your dress is straighter cut, this look can also work really well with a thin waist-belt to add a little definition around the waist. I wouldn't recommend the addition of a waist belt with a chunky knit, as it tends to start looking a little messy.

- Style Tips -

1.  Add a cardigan the same length as your dress and belt at the waist. This looks particularly cute with a knee high boot.
2. A collared shirt can easily go from event to lunch with a chunky knit (with the collar out!) and sneakers.
3. Think reverse - pop a plain black A-line skirt over the base of your dress, not only will you protect the skirt for your partying times, but will add a petticoat effect which compliments the A-line cut perfectly!
4.  As per the above, add a box cut crop top over your bandage mini dress! Instantly giving the piece a more demure look, add stockings and ankle boots to finish.
5. Button up and reverse a cropped knit cardy! This is a great trick to get the look of a fitted knit when you don't have one near. Looks best layered over an A-line party dress!

A few extra styles ideal for dressing down your dresses...
Whilst I was having a look over at Westfield Southland I also came across these styles, which all would have been perfect with this look! You can shop these styles (and the above) 24/7 on the Westfield Online just by clicking on the image! #fashionobsessed
