Aussie Curves "Breaking the rules"

This weeks theme for Aussie Curves was "Breaking the rules". So, this is one of those challenges that i guess truely challenged me. At first i pondered about it for a good hour, then after not coming up with any worthy ideas i decided a new approach. I thought "what would be breaking my rules?". You know, that set of personal rules that every lady sets herself for no reason? Such as wearing "flattering" clothes which generally involve covering ones self in more clothes than reasonable and being quite uncomfortable!

One of my ALL TIME rules for summer is wearing boardshorts, yet i DESPISE boardshorts with a passion. I actually dont even really like shorts at all! However i will not swim without them. Ever. I am so anti-my-legs that i never participated in swimming sports in school, never swim without boardshorts, recently went 3 years without wearing a skirt or dress above the knee and only in the last 6 months did i buy my FIRST ever pair of shorts.

So the challenge was quickly set for my impending tropical vacation. I was NOT going to take boardshorts, at all. On a holiday with, for most of it, 30 other fabulous friends i was going to face my uttermost fear and in short terms in my head i was "Breaking the (ridiculous) rules!".

And did i succeed? In my mind, hell yes! It was completely liberating to forget those loathsome board shorts and rock my one piece! I could even contend with the waves for some "pro" bodysurfing without worrying about losing that scrap of fabric (that i didnt even want to be wearing!) that cost me $70!

Now i had to wear a bolero in these photos as as much as we were hoping to do these in early morning we just couldnt, and unless i wanted to end up like a red lobster i had to cover part of me. This is also the reason i would never wear a bikini. I just get burnt far to easily. I did manage to however do a second lot of swimwear posts in the shade of our pool which will be up later in the year, but who could resist this beautiful backdrop!

The Outfit:
Bathers - Marks and Spencer (Via Ebay and i think last season)
Kaftan - Kmart $15
Necklace- Diva
Confidence- A cocktail on the beach and a change of thinking! (Yes positive thoughts CAN change your own thoughts about yourself!)

  7. They're not skinny legs but there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. In fact, I thought you looked pretty amazing. Its crazy how we judge ourselves so harshly. Loved the outfit.

    1. Maybe not quite burn them ($70 CC ones lol) but perhaps I'll pack them in a hidden box in the depth of my well crowded wardrobe... Never to be found again *insert evil laugh* ;-)

  19. OMG... you look like a goddess!! You are so beautiful lady. It blows my mind! (And I actually love Old Navy board shorts. I swim all summer and it's hard business and they make me feel a bit more modest.)

    1. Naww no one has ever called me that one before lol, I guess modesty is the other part, I am naturally quite modest but far more comfortable physically without xx

  29. Gosh you're so brave girl! I think females are tend to be over body conscious - doesn't really matter what size you're 6 or 16. Seriously, I don't even remember when I wore my bikini last time... its time to change that. You look gorgeous and so inspirational!
