"The Curvy 10" with Hayley Hughes of Fashion Hayley

Today we are talking to the eccentric Hayley Hughes from "Fashion Hayley". Hayley is a renowned curvy Australian blogger, with ties throughout both the fashion industry and plus size fashion industry. Her quirky look, a blend of low end and high end goods, with an array of amazing vintage pieces. Always with a touch of the Tokyo Harajuku edge, this Sydney blogger has created a dynamic, defined style that is an inspiration to many curvy ladies who want to step out of their comfort zone and try something new!

Name: Hayley Hughes aka Fashion Hayley (people actually do call me Fashion accidentally sometimes, its very odd)
Location: Sydney (unfortunately, I miss my hometown of Melbourne A LOT!)
Tweet me at: @fashionhayley

1) Why did you start blogging?:
I started my blog as a way to document and keep my friends and family back home up to date with my year spent living in Tokyo, Japan back in 2006. I had no idea that it would turn into my full time job and take over my life like it has.

2)What fabulous experiences have you had (or are looking forward too!) because you started your blog?:
I have met so many wonderful people thanks to blogging, and made some fabulous friends around the world. Some of the best experiences have been being flown to New York for the inaugural Young Fat & Fabulous conference in 2010. I have also travelled Australia as the guest of fashion weeks and fashion competitions and conferences. Appearing on ABC's Art Nation and Chanel 7's Today Tonight are also highlights, as is being featured in magazines in Australia and overseas, from Cleo to the New York Times, its kinda crazy really.

3) If you could have your dream job, anywhere in the world, what would it be?:
I probably already have my dream job. I blog and work in fashion as a stylist for a living, the only thing that would make it any better would be to be living back in Tokyo again. I was just there and its like I never left, it will always be my second home.

4) What is your number one fashion addiction?
I am addicted to cute socks at the moment, especially cute socks with frilly lace. Its a strange thing to be addicted to, as most people think socks and sandals are a big fashion no-no, but to me its just so cute.

5) If you could buy only three new additions for the upcoming season in your wardrobe, what would they be?:
I'm loving tropical prints (after seeing them everywhere for next Summer over in Tokyo) and wish I bought this awesome tropical print shirt by Joyrich while I was there. I'm also after a pleather biker jacket after I lost mine on a disastrous drunken night out and I also want a black belt with silver hardware as all my belts have gold clasps and I hate mixing gold and silver so I never get to wear my silver jewellery.

6) Favourite blogger? (can be more than one):
I have always loved Susie Bubble but I currently love, and

7) What new piece in your wardrobe are you most looking forward to styling at the moment?:
I bought so many new pieces in Tokyo, I can't wait to style and blog them all, from an amazing vintage versace'esque shirt to a Japanese designer's digital print shirt which features the most insane print I have ever seen. Look out for them on my blog.
8)Your number one tip when it comes to dressing for curves?:
Don't follow any rules, do what works best for you and only you! I used to be afraid of showing my legs/arms/midriff etc but now thanks to the fat-o-sphere I have no such qualms.

9) Where do you want to be in 10 years?:
Tokyo, doing what I do now.

Sequins or Glitter?: Glitter
Lace or Leather?: Leather (well pleather as I'm vego)
Floral or Tribal?: Floral (clashing floral prints = love)
Statement necklace or Statement earrings?: Necklace all the way, I am never without a statement necklace.
Summer heat or Winter Chills?: Winter chills, more styling options.
Thrifted or Designer?: Thrifted is my game, I love the thrill of op-shopping.
